Natalie Sarabella and Janet Mormile are business partners, cousins and friends. Growing up in Brooklyn in the same two-family home with their very close families, their talents, though different, blossomed along side each other. Natalie was born to be an artist showing talent as a youth, sometimes in unusual ways. She would paint on anything or anyone who would stay still long enough for her to express herself. Janet, the older and, she likes to think, wiser of the pair pursued a career in business and interior design. They are as different as two people can be, however there is a common thread of love and respect that makes them a perfect working team.
Natalie’s memories of Christmas as a child were filled with images of large decorated trees in Brooklyn’s Abraham & Straus department store where the ornaments were huge and colorful. Maybe they weren’t actually so large, perhaps she was just little. However, it was this feeling that inspired Natalie in 1994 to paint some ornaments for her own family tree. Upon their completion, she was made to realize the magnificence of her creation.
With encouragement from family members she thought to bring this creation to the public. Much hard work and planning followed in order to realize this dream. At this point in their lives Natalie and Janet were both married, working and each raising two children. It was obvious to all interested parties that Natalie and Janet would be cohabitating again, only this time in an art studio in Staten Island instead of a brownstone in Brooklyn and Sarabella Creations was born. They created the concept, the luxurious presentation box and mustered up the courage to walk into Bergdorf Goodman in New York City and say "look what we have, what do you think?" The Bergdorf buyer immediately stated that she had never seen any ornament like it and placed an order. The girls left the store with their first order, which was almost immediately followed with a reorder and the rest is history... The Ultimate Ornament began its journey. They have since added to their line of exclusive hand painted items. Greeting cards, photo albums and ostrich eggs to name a few. They are known for their custom paintings on the large ornaments including portraits and architectural designs.
Over the past dozen years their ornaments have been sold in the finest stores in the world, collected by and adorning the trees of the rich and famous and warming the hearts of all who remember the wonder of Christmas.
